Another wonder from Morocco, Rhassoul clay has been used for over 12 centuries and is rich is magnesium, silica, potassium and calcium. It is used to clean hair and skin, help regulate sebum imbalances, and it also fights hair flakes while leaving your hair soft and shiny. This Rhassoul clay hair mask is definitely one of my favorite secret beauty recipes from north Africa!

Rhassoul clay is harvested from the Atlas mountains of Morocco and also goes by Ghassoul clay red clay and red Moroccan clay. It is similar to another common beauty clay, Bentonite clay, but has an even higher mineral content. This makes it especially good for the skin and Rhassoul clay is often used to reduce blackheads, acne and skin irritation. It’s also been shown to improve skin elasticity and overall texture. On hair, it also improves elasticity – this means less breakage! The mineral content also strengthens the hair shaft. What’s not to love!

Rhassoul clay hair mask recipe Ingredients

Rhassoul clay hails from Morocco and is a mineral-packed clay, especially high in silica and magnesium. It forms a silky paste when combined with liquid, and can be easily applied to skin or hair. This clay is dry at room temperature and if stored correctly, will keep forever!

Liquid honey is a byproduct of bees. It is nutrient rich and naturally antibacterial. This also makes it good for acne treatment and prevention. Honey is high in antioxidants, which gives it an anti-aging effect on both the skin and hair. Its also a natural humectant, which keeps this Rhassoul clay mask from becoming too drying. Honey is great for boosting your hair’s glow and can help to enhance its natural radiance. Look for unrefined or raw honey for the best effect.

Lemon juice is juice from the citrus fruit of the same name. It is naturally high in antioxidants and vitamins like vitamin C, which gives it a brightening effect. It also helps to remove unwanted residue buildup for the hair shaft. For the greatest benefit, do not buy lemon juice. Instead juice fresh lemons, and opt for organic when possible!

This clay mask is intended for your hair, it can help to eliminate acne and boost complexion when used on the skin. For hair, this is a moisturizing and strengthening treatment without any residue deposit.

Where to buy Rhassoul clay online?

You can buy Rhassoul clay online from retailers like Amazon, or smaller natural beauty stores. Remember, for it to truly be Rhassoul clay, it has to come from Morocco. Do not purchase products that do not disclose the place of origin. You should also check to make sure that there are no other ingredients listed aside from the clay itself. Remember that it may also go by one of its other names: red clay, Moroccan red clay or Ghassoul clay.

Rhassoul clay is smooth powder and is reddish-brown in color.
