The trick for this lavender melt and pour soap recipe is to get alkanet root powder which will give a beautiful lavender purple-blue color to your soap.
Cut the melt and pour soap base into small cubes so they melt faster
Add them to your double boiler (basically an aluminum bowl in a pan half filled with warm water) on low to medium heat
Your water should be simmering but not boiling.
Continue steering until the soap base is melted
Once melted, add the jojoba or almond oil, cocoa butter, mix well. You could also substitute with any carrier oil or butter of your choice.
Once everything is melted, take the bowl off the heat, wait a few minutes until is slightly cools off then add essential oils if desired, mix well. If you add the essential oils when the base is too warm, they will evaporate and you can say goodbye to the amazing scents….
Pour in the silicone mold but keep 1/4 of a cup so you can add the alcanet root separately.
In the remainder ¼ of base, add the alkanet root and mix well.
Add the alkanet melt and pour to your silicon mold and create swirls with a wooden stick going from one side to another.
Alternatively you can also add the alkanet root to the entire melt and pour base and have purple soaps, that’s up to you!
Spray pure alcohol on top of the soap to get rid of the bubbles if any
Add the dried lavender flowers on top of the soap while it is still liquid
