Melt the Shea butter, castor oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil and beeswax together in a double boiler or an aluminum bowl inside a pan filled with warm water on low to medium heat.
Once melted, take the aluminum bowl outside the heat with gloves so you don't burn yourself.
If you are using the beetroot powder, make sure the powder is very fine or else you will end up with a grainy lip gloss. Blend the beetroot powder in a fast blender until it is a very fine powder.
Add the teaspoon of beetroot powder OR 1/2 teaspoon of beetroot juice concentrate.
Add the essential oil if desired and the grapeseed extract.
Mix well for a few minutes with a spoon until the beetroot is completely dissolved.
The mixture should look like a thick lip gloss, very glossy and easy to apply to the lips. If your lip gloss is too liquid and stays more like an oil, add the aluminum bowl into another bowl of cold water so it cools down the ingredients.
This recipe makes 1 oz and can last up to 2 months (but also depending on the shelf life of the oil and butter you use)
