Why you should avoid Ready-Made and commercial Cleansing Oils?

There are many cleansing oils present in the market that are quite expensive and contain huge quantities of preservatives and chemicals.

  • Shu Uemura’s Ultime8 Sublime beauty cleansing oil costs $50 for 150ml and $100 for 450ml.
This product has ‘high-risk’ according to Amazon ratings for oily and acne prone skin because it contains harmful ingredients like Butyrospermum Parkii Shea Butter, Ethylhexyl Palmitate of rating 4, Isoprophyl Myristate of rating 5 and Glycine Soja or Soybean oil. These ingredients can block your pores.
Plus, it also contains Citric Acid that causes skin irritation for people with sensitive skin.

  • Erborian’s Solid Cleansing Oil costs $60 for 80 grams. This product is bad for oily skin because it contains Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis, which is sweet Almond oil, Coconut oil and Hydrogenated vegetable oil, which can block your pores. It does not have a lot of chemicals but is way too expensive!
  • Tatcha’s Pure One Step Camellia Oil Cleanser that costs $30 for 25ml contains Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Alcohol, and Phenoxyethanol, which are harmful chemicals for long-term use. Be wary of the commercial product name…They use “pure” which is misleading and not a true representation of the product ingredients.

There are many other oils in the market right now, but they often contain preservatives and harmful chemicals that can ruin your skin in the long run.

My Favorite Oils for the Oil Cleansing Method (OCM Tried and Tested)

I have dry, prone to acne skin and I have been using these 3 oils for the past two years and they work like a charm! These oils have helped me deal with my unwanted acne problems, the scaring that remains on the skin long after the pimples are gone, fine lines, and dark circles.

The 3 magical oils are:

  1. Jojoba Oil

The jojoba plant grows in North America. It is a perennial plant that thrives even in the harshest and ragged climates that kill most living beings. This plant produces a nut that has many healing properties. Jojoba oil is extracted from this nut. You can use this oil with other oils and even on its own.
Jojoba oil should be your dark knight because it is moisturizing and has humectant ingredients, which seal the skin with a protective barrier to prevent it from losing moisture. This helps in preventing bacterial infections and acne as well.
Jojoba oil also has antioxidant properties and Vitamin E, which helps skin fight oxidative stress caused by pollutants and toxins due to daily exposure.
It’s non-comedogenic unlike all the other ready-made oils mentioned in this article earlier.
It is also hypoallergenic, so unlike other botanical essential oils, it is nonirritating and allergic reactions are rare.
It helps speed up wound healing, soothes eczema, sunburns and other drying conditions and helps treat acne, reduces the appearance of visible fine lines, wrinkles and scarring. Available on Amazon at $9.99 for 4oz.

  1. Rosehip oil

The ancient Egyptians and Native Americans used Rosehip oil because of its amazing healing properties. It is harvested from the seeds of rose bushes.
Rosehip oil can work as a natural alternative to moisturizers due to its high fatty acid content.
This oil has the potential to treat wrinkles because it contains skin-boosting ingredients such as anti-inflammatory fatty acids and vitamins A and C. It brightens the skin giving it an even tone, fades scars and exfoliates your skin due to its high antioxidant content.
You should seriously consider adding this to your daily skin care routine because this oil can give you a firm, elastic skin texture that is protected from toxin exposure.
Available on Amazon at $12.99 for 1oz.

  1. Camellia Seed oil

The Camellia oil, also known as tea seed oil, is an edible, pale amber-green fixed oil with a sweet, herbal aroma.
This oil offers many therapeutic and healing properties:

    –  antioxidant qualities and resists rancidity.
    – contains Cicatrizant, which repairs wounds and scrapes on the skin and is used in medical formulas.
    – anti-aging effects and protects the skin from free radical damage, all thanks to the high number antioxidants present in it. It also promotes skin cell regeneration.
Camellia seed oil is an amazing moisturizer for the skin because it contains high oleic acid omega 9 content.

Available at $7 for 1oz.

Oils to Avoid for Acne Prone Skin

What Causes Acne?

Well-known Dermatologists like John H. Stokes and Donald M. Pillsbury proposed a mechanism that states the origins of acne are clearly linked to depression and anxiety https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21281494 . The emotional tremors affect the intestinal micro flora, which contributes to systematic inflammation. Probiotics influences other problems like oxidative stress and even mood itself may have an important impact on acne. In order to truly get rid of acne, it is important to heal yourself from within.

So, the next time you think about treating your acne, do it the organic way through the oil cleansing method.

Follow these easy steps and kiss those stubborn, pesky pimples goodbye!

    Hi eve

Can I use the Jojoba, Rosehip and Camellia oil all at once on my face? I have oily, sensitive acne prone skin.

    Regards.

Hi Kay, Yes you can use all 3 combined, however, if you have never used any of those oils before, I would first try jojoba oil for a month. The simpler the better!

    Hi Eve,

Thank you for the recipe. Can I mix Rosehip oil with Camelia oil or does it need to be applied separately?

    Thank you.
