This Organic face cream recipe is perfect for oily skin or sensitive skins. It is also suitable to all type of skin in the summer when we tend to produce more sebum. Kukui nut oil is definitely one of my favorite oil; I often use it pure and undiluted in the morning on my face.

The great thing about this face cream recipe is that it does not leave a greasy film and absorbs very quickly. For hundreds of years, Hawaiians have used kukui nut oil for its moisturising and healing properties. Lavender; geranium and frankincense essential oils are known to balance the skin and are perfect for oily skin…needless to say the rose scent is heavenly!

Hello, Eve! I am looking to make this recipe over the weekend. Do I have to add grapeseed extract or can I use grapefruit seed extract as a substitution. I also have the Leucidal* liquid preservative. Would any of this work.

    Please advise!

    Thank you

This skincare formula sounds great. Could you substitute beeswax with anything else? I’m interested in trying to make this recipe with all vegan ingredients

    Hi dear EVE
    Thanks for your amazing recipes

What is your opinion about adding glycerin to recipe for “oily skin”? e.g is this recipe appropriate to hydrate such skin?
aloe vera, glycerin, rose water, cucumber juice and vit E cap

If yes, you think what is the reasonable amount and ratios for these ingredients?

    Thank you

    Hi eve,
I love your recipe so much id like to diy but please what is the natural preservation did you use?

    • August 21, 2018 / 8:31 pm

Hi aya, 1 drop of organic grapeseed extract is a natural preservative. Some essential oils also helps with preservation but keep in mind this is a natural cream so best to make small batches, frequently.

Comment what is kukui nut oil

    • April 19, 2018 / 2:05 am

The Kukui nut tree is the official tree of Hawaii and has been used by natives of this island for hundreds of years. Kukui nut oil contains linoleic and alpha-linolenic fatty acids. This oil is easily absorbed into the skin

    Hi,

I hear grapeseed extract isn’t actually a preservative and since rose water was added it means this won’t have a long life unless there’s one added. If I want it to keep longer can you tell me what would be a good preservative to use?

    • April 21, 2016 / 9:52 pm

Hi, it’s best to do small batches of the cream and to avoid the use of preservatives since they are chemicals. I will write a blog post soon about natural preservatives and explain in more details soon 🙂

Thank you for posting these recipes. Since Burts bees got bought out by Clorox. I have not been able to find a face cream that I can use successfully. Do you have an eye cream recipe as well? Also where is the best source for frankincense?
        Thank you again!
